We discovered the Costa Cálida region in 2019 when my wife was working at a hotel in Puerto de Mazarrón during the summer. We immediately fell in love with the climate, natural beauty, and seemingly untouched properties of the region, where the main residents were still Spaniards.
Like many families, COVID threw a wrench into our plans, and we had to postpone everything and reconsider our approach. We were able to continue our search for our second home during the summer of 2022, when we found San Pedro del Pinatar—the town that ticks all our boxes! We purchased our first property here that same year.
We were amazed by the incredible value proposition achievable in a place so close to multiple beaches, with access to two bodies of water: Mar Menor mere meters away and the Mediterranean Sea within walking or comfortable biking distance.
The idea of Spainigo was born in 2023, with the goal of sharing our personal experiences with others, helping them navigate the difficult process of buying a property abroad and potentially relocating fully. While we had purchased our property in 2022, we weren't able to fully relocate until June 2025, which gave us even more time to understand the local market and build our network.
Since both of us attended a Spanish bilingual grammar school, we've been speaking Spanish for over a decade—a foundation that has proven invaluable in our work. Combined with our economics degrees (both bachelor's and master's completed in English), this educational background has enabled us to find the most genuine local providers and start establishing a network of individuals and businesses whose reliability we can personally vouch for. I also completed the 120-hour Spanish real estate broker training at EANE (Escuela Abierta de Negocios), so I work as an officially qualified professional.
We made many friends during our student years. Through them and our studies, we've come to know Spain's history, geography, tourism, customs, and people. We also love this country, which made it easy to find common ground with local providers and begin building a network whose reliability we can personally vouch for.
Spainigo as the real estate agency was established in late 2025 as the culmination of years of planning, studying, experiencing, and networking. From our first clients onwards, we have put the emphasis on personalized service, because we understand how difficult this process can be and what is at stake for anyone seeking our services.
